March 1 Senior Career Day - While the seniors are approaching the end of their time in high school, it’s not too late for them to continue planning for the future. Students have three options for the upcoming career day, but they are REQUIRED to participate in one of the options.
First, if any students are interested in learning more about post-high school employment opportunities, they will be meeting in the Community Room from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. (students can be on-campus for the entirety of the school day if desired). During that time, they will be meeting with Sara Tomlinson, who is a career liaison at Millstream, to complete a career assessment and go over the assessment results with her. Students will also meet with Mr. Bratt to update their résumés in preparation for participating in Millstream’s reverse job fair on Friday, March 25. At the job fair, students will gain experience talking with employers and have the opportunity to explore summer and/or full-time employment opportunities.
Second, if any students are undecided about their future education and want to visit a college for the first time or make an additional visit, they are encouraged to reach out to an admissions counselor at the school to set up a visit which provides what they need (sitting in on classes, meeting professors, exploring programs, etc.). Students participating in a college visit need to see Mr. Zender to pick up the necessary paperwork, or they can also find a digital copy of the paperwork in the Slides presentation Mr. Bratt e-mailed to them on February 9. All completed college visit forms need to be returned to Mr. Zender by 3:15 P.M. on Friday, February 25.
Finally, if students would like to learn more about career options, they can set up a shadow day to shadow someone in a career they would like to further explore. Students participating in a shadow day need to see Mr. Bratt to pick up the necessary paperwork, or they can also find a digital copy of the paperwork in the Slides presentation Mr. Bratt e-mailed to them on February 9. All completed shadow day forms need to be returned to Mr. Bratt by 3:15 P.M. on Friday, February 25.
If anyone has questions about the employment activities or shadow day, please reach out to Mr. Bratt (bbratt@vbschools.net). If anyone has questions about the college visits, please reach out to Mr. Zender (mzender@vbschools.net).

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library Bookmobile will be at Van Buren on Monday, February 14, from 11:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. Middle and high school students can visit the bookmobile during their lunch periods, so if students have a FHCPL card, please be sure they have their cards so they can check out books. Students can also place holds on books using the FHCPL website (www.findlaylibrary.org) and pick those up on the bookmobile as long as they identify the bookmobile as the pick-up location (they still need to have their library cards with them). Students who don't have library cards can visit the library in Findlay (206 Broadway St.) to register for a card. Parents must be present with their children and have two forms of identification (one must be a photo ID). The bookmobile will also be making stops at the school from 11:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. on February 28, March 14 & 28, April 11 & 25, and May 9 & 23.
