Congratulations to high school social studies teacher Ms. Chelsea Burden for being accepted into Bowling Green State University’s selective Civics 250 Scholar Program. While in the program, Burden will participate in professional development designed to strengthen American history and civics education.

The Civics 250 Scholar Program equips teachers with strategies to integrate primary founding documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and Federalist Papers, into their instruction. Beginning in December and continuing through May, participants will engage in monthly evening workshops before meeting on BGSU’s campus in early June 2027 for a week-long seminar. As part of her experience, Burden will design three to five original lesson plans tailored to high school students, collaborate with teachers at various grade levels from around the state, and gain access to an exclusive digital toolkit featuring original public opinion results and in-depth podcasts produced by BGSU students.

We appreciate Ms. Burden’s dedication to learning and elevating the rigor of both our Government and CCP Government classes to continue supporting the growth of our students into respectful, responsible, and resilient citizens.
