Congratulations to second grade teacher Mrs. Cassi Swaney for being recognized by the Coalition of Ohio Rural and Appalachian Schools (CORAS) as Van Buren’s Outstanding Elementary Teacher.
Twenty-five elementary teachers from schools across Northwest Ohio were recognized for their teaching excellence at the event held at BGSU today. Presenters at the event included former Ohio Senator Mr. Randy Gardner, State Superintendent Dr. Paul Craft, President of the State Board of Education Mr. Paul Larue, and BGSU President Dr. Rodney Rodgers.

Elementary Principal Mr. Michael Newcomer said, “Mrs. Swaney embodies what it means to be an outstanding teacher. Because of her effort to build rapport with her students, they trust and love her and are willing to meet her high expectations for them.”
Superintendent Dr. Jason Inkrott added, “Cassi is passionate about education, always positive, and a great leader. She is always willing to help colleagues and students, and we are proud of how she represents our district.”
