New Staff Bringing New Ideas, Experience to Our Van Buren Team Thumbnail

At Van Buren Local School District, we pride ourselves on building thinkers, building experiences, and building connections. None of that would be possible without the dedicated district staff who put student growth first every day, and we would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new staff to our school community.

The people students interact with outside their classrooms have a significant impact on their daily experiences, and we are happy to have the following new classified staff filling roles to ensure our students have a great experience every day: Ms. Priscilla Garcia (aide), Ms. Brea Lebron (custodian), Ms. Heidi Mercer (noon monitor), Ms. Jacqueline Pollack (custodian), Ms. Candy Schroeder (noon monitor), and Ms. Connie Tittsworth (bus driver).

Once students headed to their classrooms on the first day of school this year, they found new certified staff in all three of our buildings to fill positions vacated by retirements and career moves. One of those teachers, Mrs. Ann Jackson, isn’t new to our district, but she has moved into the role of interim gifted education coordinator and teacher as we continue to explore how to most effectively serve our gifted students. Additionally, in order to increase our services to students, we brought the roles of Speech-Language Pathologist and School Psychologist back into the district after they had been purchased services for many years.

As our new and returning staff members work together this year, we are excited to see how the new ideas and past experiences of our new staff will continue the academic growth of our students. Keep reading to discover the knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm our new certified staff bring to Van Buren.
