Student-Led Conferences
Watch your mailbox for an invitation to our student-led conferences, which will be held on three evenings this year: Wednesday, November 13; Thursday, November 14; and, Monday, November 18. Conference scheduling will once again be online (available late October) and families are reminded that middle school conferences are student-led, therefore students should attend so that they can facilitate the conference.
We welcome LifeAct to VBMS
LifeAct, a program supported through University Hospitals of Cleveland, will meet with our seventh and eighth graders November 11-12 and 18-19, respectively. LifeAct's mission is to prevent teen suicide by educating youth to recognize depression and the warning signs of suicide and to access help for themselves and/or their peers. After accidents, suicide the is #1 cause of death among youth and teens according the CDC statistics. This letter will be sent home with students regarding the program.
Use PayForIt to manage student lunch accounts!
Van Buren Schools use payforit.net so that parents can manage their students' lunch accounts. Parents have the options of paying toward lunch accounts (using credit, debit or EBT), setting up email alerts for low balances, and even auto-replenishing student lunch accounts.
