Food insecurity is real: About 1 in 5 children in Ohio (19.6%) live in families that can't always afford enough food on their own. Rachel's Pantry is a project of our Friends of Rachel Club and the purpose is to provide food for students in need. Grade levels are in a challenge to contribute non-perishable food and toiletries. Thanks to Feed-a-Child and the Findlay Service League for their assistance with this initiative. Rachel's Pantry will be a year-long event, and a competition ranging every quarter. The competition will be a clash between the grades, with collection boxes in their respective hallways. With every can or boxed food item giving +1 point to every grade. The winning grade will get a technology pass in Homebase, allowed to use phones or watch YouTube. If you are in need of food or snacks for home or lunch, go to Mr. Hafner's moodle page and find Rachel's Pantry in the Useful Links at the top left of the page.

One of Buddy the Elf's four food groups was candy canes (along with candy, candy corns, and syrup). This may not align with our health curriculum. HAPPY/HYPE is VBMS's premiere supplier of candy canes during December through the Peppermint Post Office fundraiser. Candy canes of all flavors, including the traditional peppermint, are available during MS lunch for 25 cents.

Jordan Rinker - 6th Grade Team Jordan repeatedly goes above and beyond in her classes, often stretching herself beyond the required work, which was noticed even by a substitute staff member.
