Eighth Grade Washington, D.C. Trip  There will be a mandatory meeting for parents, students, and chaperones on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00PM in the auditorium.  Parents should bring insurance and medical contact (doctor, dentist, etc.) information.  Go to the trip page for details on the trip.

Read our Book Reviews!  The reviews of children's literature our students wrote is posted online at http://csclbookreviews.blogspot.com/   Thanks to Kathy Yoder and BGSU for bringing this opportunity to us!

Van Buren Schools Early Release Dates   Students will be dismissed at 1:00PM on Friday, May 9, 2008.  In the event a two-hour school delay occurs on this date, the early release will be cancelled and students will be dismissed at the normal time (3:00PM).

Last Day of Classes Changes  Using more than the five state-allotted calamity days has resulted in making-up a day on Friday, June 6, which will be the new last day of classes for students this school year.

Your Help is Needed!  It is our desire to provide quality service to you and your child.  Because of the extremely busy and varied activity of the two schools our office serves, we are asking for your help with the following items:

  • Please remember to call the office (419-299-3384) on the mornings that your child is absent. Please don't send your sick child to school.
  • If you are planning an absence, your student may pick up a "vacation form" from the office to inform teachers and obtain homework.
  • Money for school lunches may be put on account in the cafeteria. Students may add checks or cash to their accounts by giving it to the cashier as they move through the lunch line.  Make check payable to "Van Buren Schools".
  • Students needing to take medication during the school day should bring the medication (in the original packaging) and a completed and signed School Medication Form directly to the office prior to going to first period class.
  • We are often inundated to deliver messages to students, requests for calls home for rides or money, deliveries of clothing, etc., and most of these are related to after-school activities, dances, or holidays. If at all possible, please make arrangements with your child regarding these items in advance of the day of the activity.
  • Our policy regarding delivery of balloons, flowers, candy, etc., is that a note only will be delivered to the student. The above items tend to be a disruption to classes and are difficult to handle in the halls and on the buses, so we kindly request that you send your special student a gift at home.

Parents and Visitors:  Thank You for Helping Us with School Security  With the addition of the breezeway door to the office reception area, we ask that all visitors and parents enter using this door during the school day.  Upon entering the front breezeway, turn left and press the button to the left of the door to  enter the office.  Doors to the cafeteria will remain locked throughout the school day.  All visitors should sign in and out at the office.  We appreciate your help in keeping our school safe.
