The Association

The Association 2007-2008

The Association, the show choir at Van Buren High School, performs for the greater Findlay and Hancock County areas whenever possible. Selected from a student body of over 300 students, the group regularly competes throughout the year and dazzles audiences with shows that break the traditional mold. The group has won many awards, including eight top-five overall finishes and as high as Runner-Up Overall, in the past several years.

NEWS AND INFORMATION:

Congratulations to The Association for an outstanding showing at Ada Music Feast on Saturday, November 10th! The group swept the Class C caption awards for Best Instrumental, Best Vocal, and Best Choreography and took their fourth straight Grand Championship in Class C there. They also received the Best Stage Crew Overall and People's Choice Awards for the daytime - a first! Qualifying for the finals for a fourth straight year, they received a respectable 4th Runner-Up Overall (out of six powerhouse groups.) Congratulations to them!

The show choir originated in the 1980's as a swing choir before taking on the name The Association by founding director James P. Scothorn.

In its over 20 year history, The Association has had only three directors - James P. Scothorn, David Inbody, and James Vaughn.
